Bakery Associate - The Colony

Overview

 

We are seeking a part-time Bakery Associate to join our growing pastry business. The Bakery Associate will work closely with the Pastry Chef to produce menu items and assist with completing all in-person, remote and online orders. This position requires the ideal candidate to be flexible and willing to multi-task both in the commercial kitchen and retail storefronts. It also requires the willingness to learn or refine existing experience to support both the bakery as well as retail storefronts at the main Ollio storefront in The Colony and the Ollio booth at the Frisco Fresh Market.

 

This person will be responsible for ingredient mis en place for daily production schedule, baking, packaging, making fillings, washing and cleaning of kitchen on a daily basis. On a weekly basis, this person will perform inventory audit and produce shopping lists for procuring requisite items for the Bakery. This person will also work in the storefronts to fulfill customer orders.

 

The ideal candidate should be ready to work hard, possess a strong work ethic in a dynamic and challenging environment and be able to creatively contribute to the success of Ollio. This is a rapidly growing start up environment and the ideal candidate should be willing to provide ideas and innovation while working closely in a fast-paced team environment.

Hands-on training will be provided if the candidate does not possess required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Practice food safety, hygiene and cleanliness according industry standards

  • Perform mis en place of ingredients according to weekly/daily production schedules

  • Perform weekly inventory audits and identify necessary purchases. 

  • Package orders for retail, online and remote orders

  • Prepare and make fillings according to Ollio recipes

  • If needed, pick up items and/or deliver local orders in personal vehicle (business-related mileage will be compensated)

  • Perform opening and closing duties as requested

  • Perform baking activities under the supervision of the Pastry Chef

  • Ensure food surfaces and baking equipment meet all safety standards

  • Maintain the cleanliness, safety and organization of the kitchen at all times

  • Clean and sanitize all work areas and equipment at all times

  • Perform general kitchen clean up such as sweeping, mopping, cleaning/sanitizing food-contact areas on a daily basis

  • Provide superior service to Ollio customers in the store or at the Ollio booth at Frisco Fresh Market by taking and fulfilling their orders

 

Skills

  • Aptitude and passion for pastry arts and culinary arts

  • Be punctual and ready to work in kitchen attire at designated start time

  • Inform Supervisor of any issues related to attendance at the earliest

  • Be willing to learn and take direction

  • Perform all duties according to Ollio standards

  • Be able to lift items such as ingredient bags weighing up to 50 lb

  • Possess time management skills to complete the assigned daily task list

  • Able to function in a commercial kitchen and perform duties by standing for extended duration

  • Be willing to ask for direction 

  • Able to perform tasks independently

  • Perform under pressure for completing production tasks

  • Be flexible in a startup environment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Have reliable transportation to arrive to your work location on time

 

 

Requirements

  • Possess valid work authorization

  • Possess valid Driver's License

  • Possess Food Handlers License (or willing to obtain one)

  • 1+ year of culinary school experience is preferred

  • 1+ year of professional pastry or baking experience (preferred)

  • Reside in the north Dallas area
